This painting - 'View of Maitalnd'

Was created using Pen, ink and watercolours on Arches 600grm paper.

This painting was created in conjunction with a Plein Air outing with Maitland Regional Art Gallery. The motivation was to re-create a painting/ image of the Town of Maitland as it sits on the Hunter River, with Vermeers painting 'View of the Delft' as our inspiration. I patiently walked up and down the riverbank looking for just the right spot to capture a simular view and light that Vermeer captured so wonderfully in his work. Well after a few months of working on this piece the painting was complete!

The painting  was displayed in various Art shows and Galleries, and the painting over time collected Multiple Awards..

This painting was just recently SOLD unframed at a local Art Society Show.
